These poems are collections of journeys, moments and transition from boyhood into manhood hence I insist on the unique elements of humanity and my identity in the same breath, as I grow up daily to full maturity in all spheres of life declaring my own truth, legacies, beliefs and identity in alignment to the beautiful soul I have become.
The portrait I paint is not only complete, but painfully accurate, powerful, bold, unapologetic and poetic.
“The portrait” is a continuation of “Colours of My Life”, my first book of poetry and hence this translates into the new space I am in, in the arena of my poetic space, the poet, the author, the man “Dante”, the immigrant, the hustler, the lover, the father to be, the husband to be, the unborn child I yearn to mentor someday.

Garland of Grace.
Garlands of grace erupt in my spirit,
Jabbed by the intrinsic smile on your face,
Outwitted by your kiss,
Feign in a cadence of a lovers heart,
Swarm by the fiddling warmth of your arms around me,
Sloughing through memories of pains from a wounded heart,
It feels like a prosaic melting away into the horizon.
Anchored by your charm,
Scoffed by the words you whisper into my ears,
I am girding my heart to love again in the garlands of grace.
Colours of My Song.
The symphony of my mind intrigues me,
Encapsulated by its rhythm,
The finesse of its rhyme is relieving,
Melodies of stillness exasperate my mind,
I sing songs from my heart deep yonder.
Lyrics of reformation,
Songs of the motherland,
Restitution is the cord of my musical mind.
My music is my shrine and ritual,
Everyday I pay homage and close cognizance to its melodies,
I elapse into the tune and beat of my heart,
I dance to the sounds of restoration,
My adversaries are in a state of deep reflection,
My enemies dance with my kindred,
Let the drums roll,
As the percussion brings succour to raging hearts,
Our diversities have become the platform of oneness,
Let the sound of the tambourine tickle your ears into laughter,
Let the rhythm of your heart infiltrate your consciousness,
Let the melodies of your mind set you alive,
Let the rhyme of your soul be a banner of love,
Let the harmony of our voices restore peace.
Dance into reality and truth,
As the colours and song of my soulful heart is poured out,
The colours of my song are colours of hope and a future,
The colours of my song are colours of togetherness,
The colours of my song are colours of love,
The colours of my song are colours of freedom,
The colours of my song are colours of a rainbow nation,
The colours of my song are colours of you and me in love.
